Delite Cinema was opened on 30th April, 1954 as the tallest building of the town on the most expensive piece of land sold in Delhi per Sq. Yard. The Cinema when opened was the first state of the art air-conditioned cinema of north India in New Delhi.

Delite cinema became Asia's 1st & North India's 1st largest DOLBY ATMOS screen.Experience the best 4 way stage speakers & 3D surround sound system of the world.

The Cinema exhibited movies as well as stage performance in those times. The stage performance was done by Prithvi Theatres through its mentor late Prithvi Raj Kapoor father of the first family of the film industry in those time i.e. Kapoor family.

The Cinema was visited by distinguished personalities from time to time like Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, S.Radhakrishnan, Govind Vallabh Pant, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, V.K. Krishna Menon, Sheikh Abdullah, Dr. Zakir Hussein, Chawdhary  Brahma Prakash etc. and  film personalities like Shammi Kapoor, Raj Kapoor, Prithviraj Kapoor, Geeta Bali, Madhubala, Nargis, Waheeda Rehman, Dev Anand, Rajender Kumar, Feroz Khan, Dilip kumar, Guru Dutt, Sunil Dutt, Leela Naidu, Manoj Kumar, Aishwarya Rai, Arjun Rampal, Shahrukh Khan, Anil Kapoor, Bony Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Rakesh Roshan, Vivek Oberoi, Subhash Ghai, Satish Kaushik, Mallika Sherawat, Emraan Hanhmi etc.

Renovation & Modernization to keep up with time
To keep up with times, the Cinema was modernized with the state of the art equipment during early 2000s by putting in huge investment running into crores to give it a five star ambience while maintaining the heritage look and without compromising on viewer’s comfort. At the time modernizing, latest equipment for projection, sound and screening were imported from USA consisting of CHRISTIE Projector, Harkness Screen, Xenon lamp etc. and latest DOLBY Digital sound system. To maintain low temperature in the scorching heat of Delhi two AC plants of 120 Ton capacity with 100% power backup were added to maintain ambient temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. After doing the modernization, Delite has become the first choice of people as well as distributors, film producers for watching/screening movies at this theatre.

Further ongoing development and conversion into multiplex
Seeing the trend of Multiplex screen cinemas, Delite converted into a multiplex by adding another screen and the same was named as Delite Diamond. The screen so created looks like a Darbar Hall of the Royalty. It has got hand painted Dome, Brocade Seating, Belgium Crystal Handles on the Door, hand crafted Egyptian Carpet with heavy wooden carvings, Czech Chandeliers and state of the art equipment and canteen. While creating this Multiplex, the original screen was further upgraded to become much more luxurious by making Italian marble toilet with carved wooden sofas to relax in the toilet along with up gradation of the swanky canteen to support the snack service to the cinema. Huge Variety of top quality snacks along with French Fry making machine, Chusky making machine, Hot corn making machine were added from time to time so as to give the viewers a much larger variety of quality snacks as against the routine one found in other cinemas. In fact Delite’s Maha Samosa has already become a brand and is talk of the town.

Huge Parking
No outing for family is comfortable unless it is backed by easy availability of huge parking space. To meet this requirement, a huge parking space on the main Asaf Ali Road with parking facility of 1000s of cars was created by MCD. By today’s standard parking facilities are much easier than one could find at his home or his garage.

Food Court
No family entertainment is complete unless it ends up with sumptuous food of different variety. For this it has provided a luxury restaurant/fine dining facility which serves different variety of cuisines i.e. South Indian food, North Indian Food and Variety of snacks in a luxurious and comfortable environment in our restaurant situated at Delite premises known as Bhaja Govindam.
